AUTHOR PRESENTATIONS and BOOK SIGNINGS
Let the calming voice of Loreda read these lovely stories to a children's group
or engage in discussion of the process with other interested adults
Two types of presentations are offered, one for children, and one for adults who are aspiring authors. Times are from 20 minutes to one hour, by request.
After an aloud reading of Our Fairy Godmother, children are asked to close their eyes and “see” their favorite flower. From there, discussions go into what their fairy godmother dress would look like. Girls will have an easy time with this, but boys will need to be prompted with “What would your mother want to wear if she had a fairy godmother dress?”
After an aloud reading of Morrie the Mudpuppy Who Wanted to Be Extraordinary, children are asked to identify extraordinary human traits. In a short period of time, children can pick and announce one of their own extraordinary traits. If time allows, children can break into teams of two to discuss each other’s perceived extraordinary traits with positive statements and compliments to their partner. Deciding on only one trait per person, the team can then announce each child’s trait to the group.
For adults, the publication process is presented. Ms. Miller offers steps to be efficient and methods to avoid disappointments. Her experiences working with editors and illustrators are shared. She suggests what to look for in a publishing company including ordering, printing, and shipping. The discussion ends with costs, pricing, commissions, and marketing. Questions from the group are answered.
At the end of every presentation, Loreda is available to autograph books. Books can be ordered online in advance of the presentation. Otherwise, with advance notice, Loreda can bring books to sell at the event.
Presentation costs are expenses only.
